Mike Olenick (b. 1978.  Red Bank, NJ) makes perverse films focused on photography, murder, forbidden desire, reproduction, transformation, memories and outer space.  His films have screened around the world, streamed on MUBI, and have won awards at the Slamdance Film Festival, Ann Arbor Film Festival, Chicago Underground Film Festival, Big Muddy Film Festival, and Cinematexas.  Mike earned his MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art with an emphasis in Photography.  He loves vintage clothing and is known far and wide for his eclectic collection of mismatched plaid and polyester outfits.

Mike is also a video editor, and he has worked on projects for Guy Maddin, Kelly Reichardt, Sadie Benning and the Quay Brothers, among others.  For over 10 years he has edited the films of Jennifer Reeder, including A MILLION MILES AWAY (2014) and BLOOD BELOW THE SKIN (2015).  Mike recently completed his first music video, BEAUTIFUL THINGS, which will be released in early 2015.  He is currently developing a surreal film about his experiences as a freshman at a private art college as well as a horror film inspired by his recent purchase of a home.
